Singer/Songwriter Emma Donovan says she drew on traditional influences when writing her latest track “Blak Nation”.
The new track takes Donovan back to her country music roots, while also attempting to break new ground.
“It’s about our culture and our mob celebrated in this country, and how proud we are of that always — telling our story and continuing that,” she told Koori Radio’s BrothaBlack.
Emma Donovan says she also drew a lot from up and coming First Nations artists.
“It’s unbelievable trying to keep up with the newer generation and how they put our voice out there.”
“Blak Nation” is the first taste of Emma’s debut solo album, set for a 2024 release.
